Measure:

Set up your 3 axis laser level at the outer right hand corner of the shower area.

Confirm that the shower is square, plumb, level, and has 90* corners.

If it doesn’t, turn a drywall screw into the ceiling and hang a plumb bob at the outer corner to form a reference point from which to measure.

Measure for the glass.

Typically glass is mounted on the center of the curb and pony wall.

This can be adjusted a bit to suit customer preference, especially the panel above the pony wall, but keep in mind that you will need at least a 2″ wide flat area of wall to mount the door hinges to the wall. Also confirm that the wall has blocking and cement board that is rigid enough to support a heavy glass door slab. Schluter foam board is not recommended.

Write down the measurements. They might not be square, if the shower walls follow the angle of the house walls.

These measurements are your liability, and you will be paying around $1,000 with 3 week lead time for a replacement panel if they are incorrect.

All shower glass is tempered, cannot be cut, and is nonrefundable after you sign the fabrication prints.

Install:

Unpackage the glass upon receipt of the shipment and confirm that there is no damage or discrepencies to the order.

Install hardware onto the correct side and location of panels. Install vinyl edge stripping.

Set the pony wall panel in place using the suction cup handles.

Be careful with the tempered glass, as it is strong and springy, but an impact to the corner will chip or shatter the panel.

With one technician holding the pony wall top panel, set and attach the face panel into place using the corner attachment bracket.

Lay lapped shims on the curb. Set door into place on shims and adjust shims until the door is level and even with the top of the rest of the shower enclosure.

Mark upper and lower hinge screw positions.

Remove door and store it on a cushioned surface like carpet, moving blanket, or cardboard.

Drill upper and lower hinge screw holes. Use 1/8″ drill bit to keep the inside of the diamond core bit cleaned out.

Insert screw anchors.

Attach door using screws and confirm fit. Mark center hinge screw hole locations.

Remove door. Drill center holes.

Install door.

Mark front and pony wall panel bracket locations.

Remove panels and store them on a cushioned surface.

Drill screw holes and insert anchors.

Intall pony wall panel and front wall panel.

Once you are sure that the panels fit properly, you can seal them using seal strips and silicone.

Clean up any oil smudges, rub marks, and silicone spots using acetone and a magic eraser pad.

Congratulations, you have installed a glass shower enclosure!
